Description

A quick and easy air fryer French toast recipe that delivers crisp edges and a custardy inside in just three minutes.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 slices of bread (day-old or slightly stale is best)
  • 1 egg
  • 1/4 cup milk (dairy or unsweetened plant milk)
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 tbsp butter (melted or for serving)
  • 1 tbsp maple syrup (optional, for serving)

Instructions

  1. In a shallow bowl, whisk the egg, milk, cinnamon, and vanilla until smooth and slightly frothy.
  2. Briefly dip each bread slice into the custard, holding it under the surface for 2–3 seconds per side. Let excess drip back into the bowl.
  3. Preheat your air fryer to 350°F (175°C) for 3 minutes.
  4. Place the soaked bread slices in a single layer in the basket.
  5. Cook for about 3 minutes. Check after 2½ minutes; the surface should be golden and edges starting to crisp. Adjust time as needed for thickness.
  6. Remove carefully, add butter if desired, and drizzle with maple syrup. Serve hot.

Notes

Use thick-cut brioche or challah for richer results; for dairy-free, swap milk and butter for almond milk and a vegan spread.
