Description
A quick and easy air fryer French toast recipe that delivers crisp edges and a custardy inside in just three minutes.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 slices of bread (day-old or slightly stale is best)
- 1 egg
- 1/4 cup milk (dairy or unsweetened plant milk)
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 tbsp butter (melted or for serving)
- 1 tbsp maple syrup (optional, for serving)
Instructions
- In a shallow bowl, whisk the egg, milk, cinnamon, and vanilla until smooth and slightly frothy.
- Briefly dip each bread slice into the custard, holding it under the surface for 2–3 seconds per side. Let excess drip back into the bowl.
- Preheat your air fryer to 350°F (175°C) for 3 minutes.
- Place the soaked bread slices in a single layer in the basket.
- Cook for about 3 minutes. Check after 2½ minutes; the surface should be golden and edges starting to crisp. Adjust time as needed for thickness.
- Remove carefully, add butter if desired, and drizzle with maple syrup. Serve hot.
Notes
Use thick-cut brioche or challah for richer results; for dairy-free, swap milk and butter for almond milk and a vegan spread.
