Description

A comforting one-pan meal of tender steak, flavorful rice, and melty cheese, perfect for busy weeknight dinners.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb steak (sirloin or ribeye), cut into bite-sized pieces
  • 1 cup rice (white or brown)
  • 2 cups beef broth or water
  • 1 cup shredded cheese (cheddar or mozzarella)
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 onion, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Optional: chopped parsley for garnish

Instructions

  1. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the diced onion and minced garlic, sautéing until the onion becomes translucent and starts to release its aroma.
  2. Toss in the bite-sized steak pieces, seasoning them with salt and pepper. Cook until browned on all sides.
  3. Introduce the rice and beef broth (or water) to the skillet. Bring everything to a boil, then cover and reduce the heat to low. Simmer for about 20 minutes, or until the rice is tender and has absorbed the liquid.
  4. Once the rice is cooked, sprinkle the shredded cheese over the top. Cover the skillet again to let the cheese melt for a few minutes.
  5. Serve warm, garnished with fresh parsley if desired.

Notes

For a healthier twist, swap white rice for brown. Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the fridge for 3-4 days.
