Description
A comforting one-pan meal of tender steak, flavorful rice, and melty cheese, perfect for busy weeknight dinners.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 lb steak (sirloin or ribeye), cut into bite-sized pieces
- 1 cup rice (white or brown)
- 2 cups beef broth or water
- 1 cup shredded cheese (cheddar or mozzarella)
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 onion, diced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Optional: chopped parsley for garnish
Instructions
- Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the diced onion and minced garlic, sautéing until the onion becomes translucent and starts to release its aroma.
- Toss in the bite-sized steak pieces, seasoning them with salt and pepper. Cook until browned on all sides.
- Introduce the rice and beef broth (or water) to the skillet. Bring everything to a boil, then cover and reduce the heat to low. Simmer for about 20 minutes, or until the rice is tender and has absorbed the liquid.
- Once the rice is cooked, sprinkle the shredded cheese over the top. Cover the skillet again to let the cheese melt for a few minutes.
- Serve warm, garnished with fresh parsley if desired.
Notes
For a healthier twist, swap white rice for brown. Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the fridge for 3-4 days.
