Description
A comforting creamy beef pasta dish that’s quick to prepare and kid-approved.
Ingredients
Scale
- 8 oz penne pasta
- 1 lb lean ground beef
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 medium onion, diced
- 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 2 tsp Italian seasoning
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 2 tsp olive oil for sautéing
Instructions
- Cook the Pasta: Begin by boiling the penne according to the package instructions until al dente. Drain the pasta but reserve about a cup of the pasta water.
- Sauté Aromatics: In a large skillet over medium heat, heat the olive oil. Add the diced onion and minced garlic, sautéing for about 5 minutes or until fragrant and translucent.
- Brown the Beef: Add the ground beef to the skillet, breaking it apart with a spatula. Cook until it’s browned and cooked through, which should take around 7 minutes. Season with salt, pepper, and Italian seasoning.
- Create the Sauce: Lower the heat, then stir in the heavy cream. Gradually add in the reserved pasta water until the sauce reaches desired consistency. Mix in the grated Parmesan cheese until melted and smooth.
- Combine and Serve: Toss the cooked pasta with the beef and sauce in the skillet until well coated. Serve hot, garnished with additional Parmesan or fresh parsley if desired.
Notes
Leftovers can be refrigerated for up to three days and reheated gently. Can be frozen for up to three months. Feel free to modify with different pasta or proteins.
