- 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
- Salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 cup chicken broth
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 2 tablespoons lemon juice
- 1 tablespoon lemon zest
- 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
- 1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley, for garnish
- Lemon slices, for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- Season the chicken breasts with salt and pepper on both sides.
- Sear the chicken in a large skillet with olive oil over medium-high heat for about 6-7 minutes on each side until golden brown. Remove from skillet and set aside.
- Cook the minced garlic in the same skillet until fragrant, about 1 minute.
- Add the chicken broth, scraping any brown bits. Let it simmer for 2-3 minutes.
- Make the sauce by reducing heat to medium, stirring in heavy cream, Parmesan cheese, lemon juice, lemon zest, and Italian seasoning. Stir until smooth.
- Combine the chicken with the sauce, allowing to simmer for an additional 5 minutes to absorb flavors.
- Garnish with parsley and lemon slices, if desired.
Notes
For a lighter option, use half-and-half instead of heavy cream. This dish can also be made with vegetable broth for a vegetarian-friendly version.
