Description
A comforting pasta dish featuring creamy garlic and tomato sauce.
Ingredients
Scale
- 8 oz pasta (your choice: spaghetti, penne, or fettuccine)
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 can (14 oz) diced tomatoes
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- Fresh basil for garnish
Instructions
- Cook the Pasta: Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add your pasta and cook according to the package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
- Sauté Garlic: In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Once hot, add the minced garlic and sauté until fragrant, about 1 minute—be careful not to burn it!
- Add Tomatoes: Stir in the diced tomatoes with all their juices, and let them simmer for about 5 minutes for the flavors to develop.
- Cream It Up: Pour in the heavy cream and gently bring the mixture to a simmer, stirring continuously to combine.
- Combine with Pasta: Add the drained pasta to the skillet and toss everything together to coat the pasta in the sauce. Sprinkle in the grated Parmesan cheese for added flavor.
- Season: Taste your pasta and season with salt and black pepper to your liking.
- Serve Warm: Plate the pasta and garnish with fresh basil leaves to elevate both its flavor and presentation.
Notes
For a lighter version, consider substituting half-and-half for the heavy cream or using gluten-free pasta. Fresh tomatoes can also be used in place of canned if they are in season.
