  • 1 cup panko breadcrumbs (lightly toasted)
  • 2 large eggs (beaten)
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups vegetable oil (for frying)
  • Salt and pepper to taste (for seasoning)

Instructions

  1. Cut mozzarella cheese into 1/2-inch thick sticks and chill in the refrigerator.
  2. Set up a breading station with three shallow dishes: one with flour, one with beaten eggs, and one with toasted panko breadcrumbs seasoned with salt and pepper.
  3. Dip each mozzarella stick into the flour, coating completely and tapping off excess.
  4. Dip the floured stick into the beaten eggs, allowing excess to drip back.
  5. Roll the egg-coated stick in panko breadcrumbs, pressing gently to adhere.
  6. For extra crispiness, dip again in egg and then back in panko.
  7. Place breaded sticks on a baking sheet and chill for about 15 minutes.
  8. Heat vegetable oil in a deep pan or wok until it reaches 180°C (350°F).
  9. Fry mozzarella sticks in small batches for about 2-3 minutes or until golden brown and oozy.
  10. Remove using tongs or a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels. Rest for 2 minutes before serving.
  11. Serve immediately with your favorite dipping sauces.

Notes

Store leftovers in an airtight container for 3-4 days. Reheat in a preheated oven at 375°F (190°C) for about 10 minutes to regain crispiness.
