Description
Delightful and gooey crispy mozzarella sticks, perfect for snacks, appetizers, or party food.
Ingredients
Scale
- 8 ounces block mozzarella cheese (firm but melts smoothly)
- 1 cup panko breadcrumbs (lightly toasted)
- 2 large eggs (beaten)
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
- 2 cups vegetable oil (for frying)
- Salt and pepper to taste (for seasoning)
Instructions
- Cut mozzarella cheese into 1/2-inch thick sticks and chill in the refrigerator.
- Set up a breading station with three shallow dishes: one with flour, one with beaten eggs, and one with toasted panko breadcrumbs seasoned with salt and pepper.
- Dip each mozzarella stick into the flour, coating completely and tapping off excess.
- Dip the floured stick into the beaten eggs, allowing excess to drip back.
- Roll the egg-coated stick in panko breadcrumbs, pressing gently to adhere.
- For extra crispiness, dip again in egg and then back in panko.
- Place breaded sticks on a baking sheet and chill for about 15 minutes.
- Heat vegetable oil in a deep pan or wok until it reaches 180°C (350°F).
- Fry mozzarella sticks in small batches for about 2-3 minutes or until golden brown and oozy.
- Remove using tongs or a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels. Rest for 2 minutes before serving.
- Serve immediately with your favorite dipping sauces.
Notes
Store leftovers in an airtight container for 3-4 days. Reheat in a preheated oven at 375°F (190°C) for about 10 minutes to regain crispiness.
