Ingredients
Scale
- 2 pounds chicken thighs
- 1 cup butter
- 1 onion, chopped
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon ginger, minced
- 2 teaspoons garam masala
- 1 teaspoon cumin
- 1 teaspoon turmeric
- 1 can (15 oz) tomato sauce
- 1 cup heavy cream
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Naan or rice for serving
Instructions
- In your slow cooker, combine the butter, chopped onion, minced garlic, and ginger.
- Stir in the spices: garam masala, cumin, and turmeric, allowing those aromas to develop.
- Add the chicken thighs and ensure they are coated with the flavorful mix.
- Pour in the tomato sauce and season generously with salt and pepper.
- Cover the slow cooker and cook on low for 6-8 hours, or until the chicken is fall-apart tender.
- In the last 30 minutes of cooking, stir in the heavy cream for a beautifully rich sauce.
- Serve hot with naan or over a bed of fluffy rice.
Notes
For a leaner option, substitute chicken thighs with breasts. For a dairy-free version, use coconut milk in place of heavy cream.
