A family favorite, these golden creamy scalloped potatoes are comforting and delicious, perfect for any gathering.


Ingredients

  • 4 large potatoes, thinly sliced
  • 2 cups heavy cream
  • 1 cup grated cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup grated parmesan cheese
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • Fresh parsley for garnish

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Grease a baking dish with butter or non-stick spray.
  3. Layer half of the thinly sliced potatoes in the bottom of the dish.
  4. Combine the heavy cream, minced garlic, salt, and pepper in a bowl and mix well.
  5. Pour half of this cream mixture over the first layer of potatoes.
  6. Sprinkle half of the cheddar and Parmesan cheese over the cream layer.
  7. Add the remaining potato slices on top.
  8. Pour the rest of the cream mixture over the second layer of potatoes and top with the remaining cheese.
  9. Dot the surface with small pieces of butter.
  10. Cover the dish with foil and bake for 45 minutes.
  11. Remove the foil and continue baking for an additional 15 minutes, or until golden and bubbly.
  12. Garnish with fresh parsley before serving.

Notes

For a lighter version, you can substitute half-and-half for the heavy cream. Experiment with different cheese blends for unique flavors.
