Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb beef sirloin, thinly sliced
  • 1 cup kimchi, chopped
  • 1 medium yellow onion, sliced
  • 1 cup bell peppers (any color), sliced
  • 4 slices provolone or American cheese
  • 2 tbsp low-sodium soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp sesame oil
  • 2 tsp vegetable oil
  • Optional: minced garlic and sugar for marinade

Instructions

  1. Prep the ingredients by slicing beef, onion, and bell peppers and chopping the kimchi.
  2. Marinate the beef with soy sauce, sesame oil, and optional garlic and sugar for at least 15 minutes.
  3. Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
  4. Sauté onions and bell peppers for about 5 minutes until tender.
  5. Cook the marinated beef in the skillet for about 5 minutes, stirring occasionally, until browned.
  6. Add chopped kimchi and cook for an additional 2 minutes.
  7. Assemble the sandwiches on toasted hoagie rolls topped with the bulgogi mixture and cheese.
  8. Broil in the oven for about 2 minutes until cheese is melted and bubbling.

Notes

For a plant-based version, swap beef with marinated tofu and use vegan cheese. Consider using different cheeses for varied flavors.
