Description

Monte Cristo crepes are a delightful blend of sweet and savory, featuring thin crepes wrapped around ham, turkey, and cheese, dusted with powdered sugar and served with raspberry jam.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 cups milk
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons butter (melted)
  • 1 cup shredded cheese (Swiss or Gruyère)
  • 1/2 cup sliced ham
  • 1/2 cup sliced turkey
  • Raspberry jam
  • Powdered sugar for dusting

Instructions

  1. Whisk together the flour, eggs, milk, sugar, and salt until smooth. Stir in melted butter.
  2. Heat a non-stick skillet over medium heat and lightly coat with butter.
  3. Pour a small amount of batter and swirl to create a thin layer. Cook until edges lift and turn golden, about 1-2 minutes.
  4. Flip and cook for another minute. Repeat with remaining batter.
  5. Assemble each crepe with cheese, ham, and turkey on one side, then fold over.
  6. Warm briefly in the skillet until cheese melts.
  7. Serve warm with raspberry jam and powdered sugar dusting.

Notes

For a healthier twist, substitute all-purpose flour with whole wheat flour. You can also use sautéed mushrooms or spinach and plant-based cheese for a vegetarian version.
