  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese

  • 1/4 teaspoon paprika
  • Fresh parsley for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Grease a baking dish with butter to prevent sticking.
  3. Layer half of the sliced potatoes in the bottom of the greased dish.
  4. Melt 2 tablespoons of butter in a saucepan over medium heat, then sauté the minced garlic until fragrant, about 1 minute.
  5. Pour in the heavy cream and add the shredded cheddar cheese, salt, black pepper, and paprika. Stir until the cheese melts into a smooth sauce.
  6. Drizzle half of the cheese sauce over the first layer of potatoes.
  7. Repeat layering with the remaining potatoes followed by the rest of the cheese sauce, ensuring to finish with a generous layer of cheese on top.
  8. Cover the baking dish with foil and bake for 45 minutes.
  9. Uncover and bake for an additional 15 minutes, or until the potatoes are tender and the top is golden brown.
  10. Garnish with fresh parsley before serving for a lovely pop of color.

Notes

You can substitute cheddar cheese with Gruyère or mozzarella. For lighter options, use half-and-half instead of heavy cream.
