- 6 boneless, skinless chicken breast halves
- 1 bottle (18 oz) Sweet Baby Ray’s barbecue sauce
- ¼ cup apple cider vinegar
- 2 garlic cloves, minced
- 2 tablespoons brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon red pepper flakes
- 1 teaspoon mustard powder
- Salt and black pepper to taste
Instructions
- In a medium bowl, mix together the barbecue sauce, apple cider vinegar, minced garlic, brown sugar, red pepper flakes, and mustard powder until well combined.
- Lightly season both sides of the chicken breasts with salt and pepper.
- Lay the seasoned chicken breasts flat at the bottom of your crockpot.
- Pour the prepared sauce mixture over the chicken, ensuring each piece is generously coated.
- Cover and cook on low for 4-6 hours, or until the chicken is tender enough to shred easily.
- Once done, remove the chicken from the crockpot, shred using two forks, and return it to the crockpot, stirring to mix with the sauce.
Notes
For extra flavor, consider adding Worcestershire sauce or a dash of chili powder. Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3-4 days in the fridge.
